Own brands
One of the most important resources of the company, besides people, capacities of research & development and business strategy, is represented by our brands. We do not invest only on production capacities, we do not sell only products, but we build long-term brands.
That is proven by the 2 leader Brands of our company: Biocarpet with more than 60% volume market share on Carpet cleaning segment (and with more than 60% brand loyalty) and Peak WC – leader on the market of toilet solid soaps, with more than 30% market share. Thus, starting with 2010, the company repositioned Biocarpet, Rivex and Peak brands (with a new brand platform, visual identity and communication strategy) and created a new brand – Igienol – on a new market: market of disinfectants without chlorine (sodium hypochlorite).
Long-term investments in brands are not limited only to rebranding and redesign, but they are visible also in brand communication. In 2011, the company’s top management approved in spite of the unfavorable economic conditions, an increase of 35% of the budgets for TV advertising compared to 2010.
As far as the production capacities are concerned, the company has 2 production units, one located in Bucharest, Romania and the other one in Harkovo, Ukraine. Their plants cover a total territory of 13.000 m2. The factory in Romania has an annual production capacity of 18.000 tones of products. We are the most important local manufacturer of household cleaning products, which helps us to be flexible and highly adaptable to the market changes, and this represents one of our competitive advantages.
Our company has exported products for more than 15 years on the following markets: Ukcraine, Bulgaria, Moldavia, Poland, Cyprus, Greece. In Ukcraine, Bulgaria, Moldavia and Poland we distribute our export products through local authorized distributors.
Distributed brands
In addition to our own products, we also take care of other companies’ brands. This does not mean that we only use our logistic capacities (warehouses, distribution network), but it means also the management of the brand by the marketing team and own investments in advertising (TV, on-line), sampling and promotion activities.
The distributed brands represent today 20% of our company’s turnover.
In 2004 we began the collaboration with Mega Disposables for distributing in Romania women cosmetics and intimate hygiene products.
Since 2005 we are the exclusive distributor for Denim brand – one of the well known men’s grooming brands in Romania – own by the Italian company Conter. In 2010 we added in our portfolio Masculan condoms (manufactured in Germany by MPI), and in 2011 Strep depilatory products (Conter).
The production and storage capacities are located in Bucharest, in a 11.000m2 surface space. In 2004, the company built a new warehouse in Bucharest, with a surface over 4.000m2. We have today 3 warehouses in Bucharest, Cluj, Bacau, which enables a fast product distribution all over the country.
Interstar has an efficient distribution network, covering 8.000 selling points, in the international KAs network (Metro, Selgros, Carrefour, Kaufland, Cora, Auchan, Billa, Plus, Penny, Profi, Mega Image, etc.), as well as in the traditional trade.
As regards the traditional trade, the distribution network covers the entire country’s territory and is performed by the local distributors.
The sales force of Interstar is led by a Commercial Manager who supervises the following: Key Account Manager, Distribution Manager, Area Supervisors for Bucharest, Regional Managers, sales agents and merchandisers.
Private label
The local production and storage capacities, as well as the quality of the products we offer, recommend us as a long-time business partner for private label production for important chains of stores not only in Romania (Metro, Selgros, Carrefour, Real, Profi), but also in Serbia and Croatia.
We produce, as private label: dishwashing detergents, window cleaners, universal detergent for surfaces, chlorine, parquet detergent, toilet cleaning liquid gel, fabric softener, carpet cleaning shampoo, hand liquid soap, furniture spray, airfreshners.
